Design Your Destiny: Dr. Deb Gaut

What does it mean to design your destiny? In 2019, I had the opportunity to start working with Dr. Deb Gaut. Deb is an executive, leadership, and success coach – as well as a speaker, writer, and entrepreneur. After spending several years as a university professor and communications expert, she began a journey to explore another chapter.

When we met, she told me about her idea to create a digital magazine that celebrates life after 50. Together, we developed a comprehensive plan that included a website and communications process that would bring her dream to life. The result was, a resource from contributing authors who march to the beat of their own drum.

Deb reached out to women and men who had created a path based on their interests, passions, and experience. The articles focused on topics that revolved around working, playing, creating, learning, and giving back from people who fully embrace the second half of life. The result is a collaborative compilation of inspiring, informative, and entertaining stories.

Along the way, Deb pulled together an editorial team of writers and creatives who helped her coordinate the process of bringing the written and visual content to life. She worked closely with the authors to turn their experiences and thoughts into words that resonated with her audience. Ultimately, she discovered her calling to become a coach for “creators, innovators, and difference makers who want to create bold visions for themselves, overcome obstacles with courage and determination, and move confidently toward the future.”

Designing Your Destiny is Part of the Journey

To reach her goals, Deb earned three coaching certifications from IPEC and wrote Morph. Pivot. Launch: Navigate Your Job Search in Turbulent Times, a bundled workbook, guidebook, organizer, journal, and reference manual. She also contributed a chapter about “Big, Bold, Audacious Change” to the book Engaging Experts: Your Guide to the People and Connections You Need to Go from Ordinary to Extraordinary. She began coaching clients in 2020.

In 2021, Deb and I collaborated with Cynthia Correll, a Communication Architect and Artist, on launching her new website. Cynthia provided brand strategy, copywriting, and artistic direction. I focused on brand photography and developing the web design, layout, and functionality. The result,, is what it means to design your destiny.

Are you ready to begin your journey?

Destiny is the push of our instincts to the pull of our purpose.
